Having gone through a name change post-divorce, Jen knew the burden of dealing with bureaucracy while recovering from a hurt. Then, with the loss of her sister who was only 33, she again faced this challenge. She met others who'd experienced loss and who were struggling to take care of all the logistics involved in wrapping up their loved one's affairs. It just seemed terribly unjust. At a point when people were the most depleted, they were being asked to do so much.

Hence, the Survivor's Guide was born. It's a Survivor's Guide because it represents the power and authority that those who are left behind have in determining both their future and the legacy of their loved ones.
